Updated: Cities to receive 30 copies of O’Reilly’s WebOS book

Palm asked us for the addresses of our organizers last week to send “some books,” and I was expecting that they’d send 2 or 3 copies to each city.  But I’ve just gotten word that each city participating in the book giveaway will receive 30 copies of Mitch Allen’s O’Reilly book on webOS development, which is by far the best resource to have around when writing applications for the Pre.

The book exited the Rough Cuts phase and went to print just a few days ago, so Palm is quite literally sending them hot off the presses to each organizer’s door just in time for preDevCamp.

UPDATE: Here’s the list of cities who should be receiving books (based on who sent us an address to ship them to)

  • Baltimore
  • Dayton
  • Dallas
  • Washington, DC
  • Columbus
  • Kansas City
  • Atlanta
  • San Diego
  • Orange County
  • San Francisco
  • Chattanooga
  • Charleston
  • Appleton
  • West Lafayette
  • Los Angeles
  • Atlanta
  • Des Moines
  • New York City

Book requests have been sent for the following non-US cities, but will not arrive in time for PDC.  But as far as I’m aware, you should still expect a shipment.

  • Bremen
  • Mumbai
  • Berlin
  • Madrid
  • Toronto
  • Sydney

I don’t know yet if Palm can send books to the last-minute organizers to be handed out at a later date, but I’ll find out.  Watch @predevcamp for updates.

UPDATE 2: I just got confirmation that Palm will help us make sure we get books to as many cities as we can.  More details for this will be released next week.
